On October 17th the Journey Fight Series hosted their 13th event in Calgary Alberta, inviting two Ontario athletes out for competition: Tiffany Cass and Yumiko Kawano from Krudar Muay Thai.

Tiffany made her professional debut against a very skilled and experienced opponent, and while the decision didn’t go her way she gave the local Jessica Gladstone of Team Smandych an incredibly tough battle throughout all 5 rounds. It was incredibly close on the scorecards, making it an emotional victory for Jessica.

Yumiko faced Ontario expat Stephanie Quigg in an extremely high energy bout. Over the 5 rounds Yumiko wore down her opponent while she gained momentum of her own, taking an exciting win by unanimous decision. Stephanie used to live in Toronto and train at the Toronto Kickboxing and Muay Thai Academy before moving to Calgary and moving in with Team Smandych.

It was a great pleasure to be able to catch our athletes in action outside the province and be able to cheer them on. I look forward to seeing the heights these two will reach.
