Job Title: Sports Law & Policy Coordinator


About Muaythai Ontario:

Muaythai Ontario (MTO) is a recognized Provincial Sport Organization with the Government of Ontario’s Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Sport. MTO is the only legal authority that sanctions Muay Thai competitive events in Ontario. Every year, MTO is proud to facilitate competitive opportunities for approximately 80 member clubs, 500 member athletes, 250 member coaches, and 30 member officials. MTO sanctions approximately 30 competitive events per calendar year.


The Opportunity:

The Sports Law & Policy Coordinator is responsible for reviewing MTO’s corporate bylaws and policies, ensuring they are consistent with current Ontario & Canada non-profit laws and best practices in sport. The Sports Law & Policy Coordinator will work closely with MTO’s Board of Directors to review governance documents, propose any necessary changes, draft corporate policy reforms, and communicate any changes with the MTO membership community.



  • Review Muaythai Ontario’s corporate bylaws, Ontario’s Not for Profit Corporations Act, and True Sport’s resource page.
    • Draft a document to the Board of Muaythai Ontario outlining areas of improvement for Muaythai Ontario’s governance to promote consistency between all three resources. This may include contacting industry experts (i.e. sport lawyers) for input and expertise.
  • Present findings to Muaythai Ontario’s Board of Directors, which may lead to policy reform proposals.
  • Draft any policy reforms proposed and voted on by the Board of Directors, under the supervision of the President.
  • Draft communications to the Muaythai Ontario community membership outlining any resulting corporate bylaw changes, to be published on the Muaythai Ontario website and social media platforms.
  • Attend MTO-sanctioned competitive events.


  • Applicants must be currently enrolled in college or university in the areas of law, policy development, public administration, sports management or another related field.
    • Proof of enrollment required during the hiring process.
  • Legal knowledge and experience with sports law, regulations, and policies in Ontario.
  • At least one year experience with legal research, analysis, and drafting legal documents.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Drive, and legal research databases.
  • Applicants must reside in Ontario for the entire duration of employment.
  • Applicants must be eligible to work in Canada and have a Social Insurance Number (SIN).

Compensation: $16.55 – $20.00 per hour, depending on experience
